Text Platform Being Discontinued

We’re so sad to announce that beginning December 1, 2024, Essenty will no longer provide text messaging services - the good news is that nothing else is affected.

Many of you trust Essenty to carry out important marketing campaigns to your Young Living customers, and we’re very sorry for the disruption this may cause. We share in your disappointment, and please know that we’ve explored all options to continue the service.

Why Is This Change Happening?

Recently, major wireless carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular) introduced new compliance standards for 10 Digit Long Code (10DLC) text messaging. This includes strict registration, stringent campaign regulations for Application-to-Person messaging, and steep penalties for non-compliance.

Because 10DLC (texts sent from a 10-digit phone number) and Application-to-Person messaging (business-to-customer texts) is the service Essenty provides for you, we fall under these revised requirements.


What Is Required To Remain Compliant?

To meet these new standards, all businesses that send marketing texts must now register through The Campaign Registry, a national service carriers use to verify compliance.

To comply, each business must register its brand, text numbers, specific campaigns, and the types of messages intended for subscribers. Only approved brands can have messages successfully delivered, and this approval includes a one-time registration fee and monthly campaign fees (starting at $3/month, depending on text volume).

Additionally, each business builder using the text service must register under a corporate Employer Identification Number (EIN); Social Security Numbers cannot be used.


Why Can’t Essenty Register My Brand (Business)?

To meet the high standards of compliance that major carriers now require, Essenty would need to manage regulatory monitoring, ongoing campaign approvals, and verification for each business builder’s unique information. This would involve significant technical and dedicated resources and would require substantial changes to our operations. Additionally, each business builder registration would require a unique corporate Employer Identification Number (EIN), a requirement that many of our customers do not currently meet. 

After much consideration, we have determined we cannot meet these particular compliance obligations in a way that is economical and user-friendly for our customers. 


What’s Next?

Essenty will wind down and discontinue text messaging at the end of November.

We recommend exploring alternative text messaging providers if you wish to continue sending texts. Project Broadcast, Shout Social, and SlickText are a few options you could consider.

Please note that all other Essenty services, including email marketing, personalized website features, personal blog, and YL content services, will continue without changes. We sincerely appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you and your customers in the months ahead.
